The focus of this workshop is to understand and explore the features of abstract art through the art quilt. It’s an ideal workshop for students who want to develop their personal visual expression by investigating shape, line, colour and symbols. We’ll study examples of abstract art and discuss the process of originating ideas and taking them further.Class exercises involve composition and various methods to achieve abstraction, including simplification, repetition, exaggeration and cropping.Bring source material as a starting point and construct abstract studies using fusing, piecing or other techniques.
