MAKING WAVES – Machine Curved Piecing |
Introduce curved, wavy lines and shapes into your quilt designs using machine piecing. Learn how to cut curves freehand into your fabric using a rotary cutter, then machine-sew the curves using simple methods with magic results. Several different methods are demonstrated in class and students will make many curved samples – from deep curved shapes and narrow curved lines to random curved piecing and curved tapering points.
In a 2 day class, make a quilt top using the machine curved piecing techniques that you have learnt on Day One. We’ll look at examples of quilts and other sources of inspiration, then discuss your design ideas, composition, colours and techniques for your quilt. Depending on the finished size of your quilt, you will either complete a quilt top or be well on your way to completing one.
Sewing machine required.
